Blazing Swan is a temporary city, and it's our responsibility to leave it clean when we go.
Our aim is to leave the Racecourse and surrounding farmland better than we found it. That means taking responsibility for your own waste and helping clean up the spaces we all shared.
Clean Your Camp
Before leaving site, you must complete a final MOOP (Matter Out Of Place) sweep of your campsite and surrounds.
An easy way to do this is to give everyone a bag, line up along one edge of your camp and slowly walk across to the other side, scanning the ground as you go. Cover the entire area, including underneath where your tent, vehicle and other gear were set up.
Look for every last bit of MOOP: twist ties, cigarette butts, food scraps, carpet fibres, matches, nutshells, staples and scraps of plastic. Even the tiniest pieces count!
Give an Hour to the Community
Every participant is asked to contribute at least one hour to the community clean-up before leaving.
Grab a MOOP bag and help clean the streets, Esplanade, toilets, areas around Theme and Sound Camps, and other shared spaces. We all enjoy the Event, and we all have a part to play in packing it down responsibly.
Take Your Waste With You
There are no general waste disposal facilities at Blazing Swan. Everyone is responsible for removing their own rubbish and waste from the event site.
Here's how to dispose of different types of waste:
Aluminium cans: Use the designated recycling points around the site. Cans only — absolutely no glass.
Grey water: Take it home with you for appropriate disposal. Do not pour it onto the ground.
All other rubbish: Take it home with you or dispose of it at the Kulin Waste Transfer Station.
Please don't leave rubbish behind, fill public bins or dump waste in nearby towns along the highway.
Leave No Trace doesn't end when you leave Jilakin Rock City. Take the same care on your journey home and wherever your adventures take you next.
