Cars

Help reduce our environmental impact by carpooling or ridesharing wherever possible. Arriving together is also the best way to camp near your friends, as campsites cannot be reserved.

If you're travelling in a convoy, agree on a plan before you leave, and check your vehicle is roadworthy, fuelled and ready for the journey.

Travelling with friends? Plan your route and agree on a meeting point before you leave. Keep a safe distance between vehicles and never feel pressured to keep up. Once you arrive, follow the Tutu Traffic Crew's directions. Remember, campsites cannot be reserved, so arriving together is the best way to camp near each other.

Parking Safely

Cars and pedestrians don't mix well, so please take care when driving and parking around the site.

  • Follow directions: Our Traffic Crew will direct you to your camping or parking area. Have your Theme Camp Traffic Pass ready if you have one.

  • Stick to 8 km/h: This speed limit applies across the entire event site.

  • Park once: Once you've parked, leave your vehicle there until it's time to leave. Driving around the site during the event isn't permitted.

  • Keep access clear: Never block roads or emergency accessways. Park well clear of roads and consider how you'll safely exit, especially if you're leaving early.

  • Separate cars and tents: Where possible, group vehicles together and tents together. Keep tents out of the space directly in front of and behind vehicles.

  • Secure your vehicle: Apply the handbrake firmly and leave your vehicle in gear (manual) or in Park (automatic). If parked on a slope, park across it where possible and chock at least two wheels. Do the same for caravans and camper trailers.

  • Use a spotter: If you need to drive through a crowded camping area, move slowly and have someone walk beside your vehicle to guide you.

  • Be considerate: Secure your belongings and be mindful of your neighbours, particularly if using a generator.

Vehicles can seriously injure people if they move unexpectedly. Take the time to park safely and make sure your campsite layout keeps people clear of vehicles.

Look after each other

Get to know your camping neighbours and keep valuables and medication secured in your vehicle. If you see someone somewhere they shouldn't be, or witness suspicious behaviour, report it to a Ranger, Theme Camp Manager or Event Headquarters.

Blazing Swan has zero tolerance for theft, assault and consent violations. These behaviours affect our whole community. If you witness something, speak up if it's safe to do so and report it to the appropriate crew. We will contact Police where a crime is suspected, and anyone found breaching the Event Attendance Terms and Conditions may be removed from the event or banned from future events.

Choosing Your Campsite

Campsites cannot be reserved, and you cannot choose your exact camping location. If you want to camp with friends, arrive together.

Follow the directions of the Traffic Crew and set up within your allocated area. Once parked, keep your vehicle stationary until you leave the event.

When setting up your camp:

  • Keep tents and vehicles separate wherever possible, with tents positioned to the side of cars rather than in front of or behind them.

  • Don't encroach on roads or accessways.

  • Secure tents and marquees with sturdy pegs, cap exposed peg ends, and keep guy ropes clear of roads. Add lights to ropes so they're visible at night.

  • In Theme Camp areas, check with your Theme Camp Lead before driving pegs into the ground. Underground services may be present.

  • If your vehicle leaks oil, place weighted cardboard underneath it.

A few more things to know:

If you're camping in a Theme Camp, read the Theme Camp Survival Guide and follow your Theme Camp Lead's directions. If you're camping with children, the southern end of the Oval is generally quieter, though it won't be completely quiet.
