Ice

A cold drink on a hot afternoon or keeping food fresh for another day.

At Blazing Swan, ice is more than a convenience—it's often the difference between a comfortable event and a challenging one.

There are no shops at Blazing Swan, no refrigeration infrastructure, and daytime temperatures that can climb quickly. So many participants rely on ice to keep food safe, drinks cold, and camps functioning throughout the event.

Bringing enough ice from home can be difficult, especially keeping it frozen for longer stays and larger camps, which is why Blazing Swan works to make ice available on site.

We arrange bulk ice deliveries to help participants access ice without needing to transport large quantities themselves.

Purchasing Ice

Ice can be pre-purchased in 5kg bags before the event and collected on site during designated collection times from Center Camp.

You must pre-order ice, no extra ice is purchased for emergency sales during the event.

By ordering ice in advance, it helps the event accurately estimate demand and ensure sufficient supply is available throughout the week.

Details regarding ice sales, collection times, pricing, and ordering will be released closer to the event.

Planning Ahead

While ice may be available on site, participants should still plan to be self-reliant.

Consider:

  • How you will keep food safely refrigerated

  • How much ice your camp is likely to use

  • Whether you need eskies, coolers, or insulated storage

  • Sharing storage and ice purchases with campmates

Remember that ice is a convenience, not a substitute for good food storage and preparation.

Food Safety

Keeping food cold is one of the easiest ways to avoid illness during the event.

Perishable foods should remain properly refrigerated, and coolers should be checked regularly throughout the week. If food has been left unrefrigerated or you're unsure whether it is safe to eat, it's always better to throw it away than risk becoming unwell. Maintaining cold storage and replenishing ice regularly helps reduce food safety risks during the event.
