Blazing Swan encourages Radical Self-Reliance, and basic first aid is part of looking after yourself. Bring a well-stocked first aid kit and know your limits. For any injury or illness beyond your ability or experience to manage, seek medical assistance. The Medical Team is found at Camp Hart is available 24/7.
Treating Minor Wounds
For minor cuts, grazes and abrasions:
Wash your hands and use clean gloves if available.
Rinse the wound thoroughly under clean, running water to remove dirt and debris. Bring your own clean water for this purpose.
Once the wound is clean, apply an appropriate antiseptic if needed and cover it with a suitable dressing.
Keep the wound clean and monitor it for signs of infection.
For serious burns, deep wounds, heavy bleeding or other significant injuries, seek medical assistance promptly rather than attempting to manage them yourself.
