Please Don't Bring
Blazing Swan is a temporary city built by its participants. What we bring affects the safety, comfort and experience of everyone around us — and the land we leave behind.
Some things are prohibited. Others are technically allowed, but make life harder for your fellow participants or create unnecessary waste.
Here's what to leave at home.

Do Not Bring to Blazing Swan
These items and activities are not permitted at Blazing Swan:
Illegal drugs and prohibited substances
Firearms and prohibited weapons
Fireworks and unauthorised explosives
Ground fires and campfires, unless specifically authorised under an applicable event policy
Pressurised liquid-fuel flame effects
Fires or heaters inside tents and other enclosed shelters
Camera glasses and recording technology - unless used for accessibility, in which case prior approval must be sought
Requires Prior Approval at Blazing Swan
These items or activities may be permitted, but only with the relevant registration, licence or approval in place before the event.
Drones — require explicit prior approval.
Mutant Vehicles — must be registered, approved and licensed by the Department of Mutant Transport.
Accessibility vehicles — certain powered vehicles must be registered and licensed; ordinary mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs are exempt from registration.
Fire performances and flame effects — require the appropriate approval and, where applicable, permits and insurance.
Burn barrels, tiki torches and art installation fires — subject to location restrictions and the required fire permits.
Pyrotechnics — require specific approval and must meet applicable licensing requirements.
Other fire activities or equipment — check the Fire Safety Rules before bringing anything beyond standard permitted cooking equipment.
Approval for one activity does not automatically authorise another. Approval must be sort from the relevant Team or Department. Approvals may be changed or revoked at a later date. Check the relevant rules before making plans.
Please Leave the Following at Home
These things may not be prohibited, but we'd really prefer you didn't bring them.
Glass bottles and containers. Broken glass is dangerous, difficult to clean up and a nightmare for MOOP. Bring drinks in cans or transfer them into reusable, non-glass containers.
Glitter and confetti. Tiny pieces travel everywhere and are almost impossible to clean up completely.
Loose feathers, sequins and costume decorations that can fall off and blow away.
Polystyrene (Styrofoam) eskies and packaging. They break apart easily and create persistent waste.
Fake grass and materials that shed, fray or break apart. If it can blow away or leave little bits everywhere, reconsider bringing it.
Excessive disposable packaging. Unpack your supplies at home and leave unnecessary wrappers, boxes, stickers and ties behind.
Anything you can't secure, maintain or take home. Tents, furniture, decorations, bikes and other belongings can all become MOOP when abandoned.
Leave No Trace Starts Before You Arrive
Bring what you need, plan how you'll manage your rubbish and wastewater, and make sure everything you bring can leave with you.
If you're unsure about an item, check the relevant event policy or contact Blazing Swan before you pack it.
Help us create something extraordinary — without leaving a mess behind.
