Photography & Filming at Blazing Swan

Blazing Swan is a visually rich and highly creative environment, filled with art, performances, costumes, and moments that many participants wish to capture and share.

Photography and filming are welcome at Blazing Swan, provided they are approached with respect, sensitivity, and an understanding that consent always comes first.

Consent Matters

Not everyone wants to be photographed or filmed.

Blazing Swan encourages radical self-expression, and participants should feel comfortable expressing themselves without the expectation of being documented. Before photographing or filming someone, ask for their consent whenever possible. If someone does not wish to be photographed, respect their decision.

Some moments are better experienced than recorded. Use common sense and consider whether reaching for a camera is appropriate.

Registered Photographers & Filmmakers

Participants who intend to publish photographs or video from Blazing Swan are encouraged to register with the Communications Team before the event.

Registration helps us share current guidelines, connect photographers with participants when required, and support responsible publishing practices within the community.

Drones

Only pre-approved drones are permitted at Blazing Swan.

All drone operations must comply with CASA regulations, event policies, and any additional restrictions in place at the time of the event. Approval must be obtained before bringing or operating a drone on site.

Commercial Use

Blazing Swan is built on the principle of decommodification. Photographs and video may be shared as part of personal portfolios and creative projects, but commercial use is subject to approval and event policies.
