Leavers
Getting people out of Blazing Swan is just as important as getting them in.
After days of adventure, connection and probably not quite enough sleep, it’s time to make the journey home.
The Leavers crew are there to make sure everyone is ready to hit the road safely. They’re the friendly faces checking in on people's wellbeing and that drivers are feeling okay to travel, offering a little support where needed, and sending participants off with one last smile, wave and farewell.
Working alongside Traffic and other event teams, Leavers help your departure from Blazing Swan run safely and smoothly as our temporary city packs up and returns to the paddock.
What Do Leavers Do?
Our Leavers crew helps participants wrap up their Blazing Swan experience and prepare for the journey home.
Depending on the role, this can include:
Checking in on participants’ wellbeing and readiness to travel
Helping manage vehicle movements during departure
Supporting safe traffic flow, working alongside the Traffic team
Helping participants understand departure procedures
Offering a friendly face, a little support and a final farewell
It can be busy, dusty and occasionally chaotic — but helping people leave safely and making sure they feel supported right to the end makes a huge difference.
The Final Part of the Journey
By the time Leavers gets to work, the party is winding down.
The Effigy and Temple burns have taken place, camps are packed down, art is burnt or being dismantled, and the city is slowly returning to paddock yet again.
It's a different side of Blazing Swan, but an important one.
A well-managed departure helps participants leave safely and gives the community around Kulin a better experience too.
Is Leavers for You?
Leavers is suited to people who are calm under pressure, communicate clearly, help solve problems and are able to stay after the event has officially closed.
You don't need to know everything about traffic management. You just need to be alert, reliable, comfortable working with others, and willing to help keep things moving.
