Santuary And The Landing Pad

Sometimes you need to find a place to stop, breathe, and have somewhere safe to land.

Blazing Swan can be an intense experience. Long days, heat, exhaustion, big emotions, unfamiliar surroundings, and altered states can sometimes leave people overwhelmed or struggling to find their feet.

The Sanctuary and Landing Pad teams provide calm, supportive spaces for participants who need a little extra care.

What’s the Sacturay ?

Sanctuary is a safe, quiet space where participants can take a break from the intensity of the event.

The Sanctuary team provides a calm and non-judgemental environment for people who may be overwhelmed, distressed, disoriented, or simply need some time away from the action.

Volunteers may:

  • Provide a calm and supportive presence

  • Listen without judgement

  • Help participants feel safe and grounded

  • Offer a quiet place to rest and recover

  • Help connect people with other event support services when needed

Sanctuary isn't about fixing someone or telling them what to do. Sometimes the most useful thing is simply being there.

What’s the Landing Pad?

Landing Pad provides support for participants who need help transitioning out of an intense or altered experience.

The team offers a calm environment where people can regroup, reconnect with themselves and their surroundings, and work out what they need next.

Landing Pad volunteers may:

  • Provide a calm and supportive environment

  • Help participants orient themselves

  • Encourage rest, hydration, food, and basic self-care

  • Listen and provide reassurance

  • Help connect participants with appropriate support

  • Assist with making a safe plan for what happens next

Looking After Each Other

Sanctuary and Landing Pad are part of a wider network of care at Blazing Swan.

They don't replace medical, mental health, or emergency services, and volunteers aren't expected to handle situations beyond their role. When additional help is needed, the teams can work with other event services to make sure participants receive appropriate support.

Are These Teams for You?

These roles suit people who are calm, compassionate, patient, and comfortable being around people who may be distressed or vulnerable.

You don't need to have all the answers. You do need to listen without judgement, respect people's boundaries, understand your role, and know when to ask for additional help.

If you're someone who can create a sense of calm when things get overwhelming, this could be the crew for you.

Join the Teams

Sometimes participation means dancing until sunrise. Sometimes it means helping someone find their way back to themselves.

If you'd like to help create a community that looks after its people, Sanctuary & Landing Pad could be your crew.
