Are You A Social Media Guardian?
Our online communities are an extension of our event and not-for-profit organisation. They’re spaces where people connect, ask questions, share ideas, and become part of the Blazing Swan community long before they arrive at the Gate to leave Default world.
We're looking for volunteers who want to join a small team of Social Media Guardians - community volunteers who care about our digital culture and want to help foster positive, constructive and respectful conversations across our online spaces.
This isn't about moderation; it's about helping create the kind of community we all want to be part of, which is reflective of our 11 principles and provides a constructive online space for the Blazing Swan community.
As a Social Media Guardian, you'll help:
Be a part of the conversation about the role our online spaces play in our community
Keep an eye out for online posts and conversations, identifying potential concerns that could escalate or don't align with our principles
Help new community members feel welcome and encourage constructive discussion online
Help uphold our culture and principles through positive engagement
Work with the wider Social Media Team to help guide and improve how we facilitate our online community.
We're looking for people who:
Have a good understanding of, and are experienced in, the Blazing Swan community, culture and principles
Enjoy a collaborative online team environment
Are regularly online, specifically on Facebook
Can communicate calmly, constructively and respectfully to a wide range of community members
Enjoy guiding people and building positive online communities
Can spare a little time throughout the year, with more activity leading up to and just after the event - as that’s when our community is at its peak
Our vision is that by growing a small team of Guardians, we can share the workload, ensuring that no one person carries the responsibility and that our overall direction remains balanced through constructive discussion and debate.
This is a volunteer role and a great opportunity to contribute behind the scenes while helping shape the experience of thousands of community members online.
