As you are all aware, Blazing Swan did not occur this year due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the Government of Western Australia. We are thankful for this swift and decisive action which was taken in respect of the Covid-19 virus which doubtless will have saved many lives. The cancellation however put our association in a difficult financial position as we used a large portion of the ticket sale proceeds towards the preparation of the Event prior to its mandatory enforced cancellation.

We are a not for profit association and we do not maintain significant cash reserves as our primary purpose is to conduct the Event.

Following our cancellation we have spent a significant amount of time investigating the matter of refunds – with the final outcome being that all ticket holders are now in the process of receiving a 33% partial refund on the face value of the ticket(s) they purchased. As part of this matter we also provided full disclosure of our current financial position to our community.

The cancellation and subsequent payment of partial refunds has left our event and association in a strained financial position and so we are humbly asking those of you who are able to, to financially donate to the association.

To allow us to confirm the budget forecast for the upcoming year prior to our AGM in a weeks time – Sunday 2nd of August, we also respectfully request that any donations are made as soon as possible so we can better understand our financial position.

We thank those of you who have already kindly donated.

Securing our Future

To continue as a solvent association with our current liabilities we are aiming for a donations total of $30,000. This figure will help to ensure that we can pay for ongoing annual costs and not spend next year’s ticket money for any ongoing expenses;  enabling us to offer maximum refunds should we again find ourselves in a position that a pandemic affects the event.

Finally, we encourage those of you who are interested in becoming part of the association, guiding its direction and the direction of the event to consider signing up as a member prior to, or at our AGM, currently scheduled for 2nd of August.
