Does our Principle of Immediacy mean that history doesn’t matter?

The Principle of Immediacy calls on us to, “Be Here Now”.  To be in contact with ourselves, with the natural world, and with the people and society around us.  History matters because who we are Now is the sum of all that we have been, all the places we have seen, all the people and communities we have been in contact with and have grown up with.  History is important because it made us, just as we will make and be important in other people’s history, when they look back on us, on our achievements and our failures. What has been gifted to us – for good and bad – is important.  What we gift to the future is also important.

History is always, in the end, personal.  The history of Blazing Swan would be a dry subject, and not very important to anyone if it wasn’t also the story of all of us.  The connections, the friendships we make at Blazing Swan have become some of the most signicant friendships in our lives.  But this also needs to be said.  Disappointment and grief is part of all of our lives.  What makes it bearable – what we hope makes it bearable – are our friendships and memories of good times.  We hope that this history of Blazing Swan helps connect you with those memories, and with the promise of new and renewed friendships and the best of times at Blazing Swan.
