Virtual Effigy Burn

TLDR: Come and join a series of Effigy burn livestreams. If you made your own, time to burn it (safely). Stream it if you want to. If you want to watch others tune in!
The livestreams will be viewable via the website. Feel free to post your own stream links, videos and images from your burns.
Streams are suggested to start around 6.00-15pm, with a coordinated burn ignition time of 6.30pm.

It’s time for “The Burn of a Thousand Swans”!
A burn like the world has never seen before!
Your swan creations, your effigies… it’s time to burn them all!
Our individual fires will be small, but if we all burn together, the sum of our flames will be as hot and as bright as any effigy could ever be.
In this way, we are again all brought together as a community, unified by the magic of the burn.
We invite you to burn your effigy at 6.30pm on Saturday night. The same time we would have gathered on site at Blazing Swan for the “Big Burn”.
You can live stream your burn via Twitch.
Or have your own Zoom party with your friends and all burn your swans together.
Or go live on Facebook to share your burn.
Or just burn it for yourself, you don’t need to share it with anyone.
There are many ways to experience, enjoy and share your burn.
BURN SAFETY
– Plan your burn. You are responsible for a safe burn
– Place your effigy creation outside on a surface that won’t be damaged or stained by heat and fire. Dirt, free of dry grass and leaves, is best.
– Ensure your burn zone if free of flammable materials, including anything that may be overhead.
– If you’re using an accelerant to fuel your burn, put it on BEFORE you ignite your creation. NEVER during. This is when most fire accidents happen.
– Ignite your creation from a safe distance. The bigger your structure the further you should stand away from it when igniting.
– Have your garden hose ready, with the water turned on, in case you need to quickly extinguish your burn. If you’re only burning something very small, a bucket of water, fire blanket or wet towel may be sufficient. It’s better to have too much safety gear ready, than not enough.
– Stay with your burn until your effigy is fully combusted and extinguished.
– Ensure any coals or embers are fully extinguished by hosing or tipping plenty of water over them. If you’re not sure, add more water.
